You are 100% correct, it will NOT be easy. The media need a hook with which they can easily differentiate the fans' of the club's dismay and anger from the board of the club's ambition - or rather lack of, given the very public campaign for the move.

Part of that would be, in my opinion, pointing out how not fit-for-purpose (from a fans' viewpoint) is the stadium, when compared with it's "got on the cheap" view that many/most people have - if it was ever a "gift horse", that bolted the moment the final stadium design was signed-off and it's still out there somewhere, earning someone - not West Ham - a nice little wedge.

Day-trippers & the opposition only see it once (maybe once a year), so it will be something new & unique to them. A true "footballing experience". For the bread-and-butter fans, what should be the sole reason for going, to support the TEAM, is being diluted - deliberately or otherwise, by the fall-out of the move.

Many, it seems, are quite happy with the move, but many is not all - never has been, never will be.

It's exponentially bad when those that are the least happy are also the ones who, through their passion, exuberance and vocal support, can also make the "footballing experience" what it actually should be - what I thought the board would actually want.

I would like the march to not only get the board to hear what the supporters have to say, but to actually listen - to take the concerns on-board and respond with answers that all can understand, even if the outcome is not in everybody's favour.

Call us customers, if you wish, but understand - truly understand - that you have a very special product; not one that sits easily, just waiting to be selected, along with the rest of the weekly shop, on the supermarket shelves amongst all the other "brands" - and not, either, a "one-off, this afternoon only, never-to-be-repeated job lot special offer."

'The organisers of this march? What sort of underlying agenda could they possibly have?'

I said the motives of most were good. I suspect, like in all aspects of life, there will be a tiny minority of self-publicists and busy-bodies.

That, for me exemplifies what West Ham are all about - people in a position of quite considerable power, but refusing to abuse that power to support a personal agenda.

The polar opposite of (certainly) the current board.

Re: The march
Miike - I was responding directly to Fifth assertion that we need to win the media war. Just for clarity, I'm in favour of the fans, not the board, the police or the media. But most people either support someone else, don't agree with you or couldn't give a shit. Presumably the march is to try and gain support from some of that lot, or why have it? So what Fifth says is absolutely right and I'm just pointing out in perfectly reasonable terms why that's going to be difficult.

Some things are best not plastered all over the media, but for many to judge whether or not that is the case, they have to be plastered all over the media so that they can read and then pass judgement on them. Carts, horses in that order, methinks (and, yes, I'm a cunt for even thinking to use that word).

Some things people just need to take on trust.

In general, the move to the new stadium and up to "the next level" was taken on trust, and betraying that trust has led us to where we are now. The board seem to have had their own agenda running beneath the public statements that ran against everything that was being said.

The organisers of this march? What sort of underlying agenda could they possibly have?

15 minutes on the local TV news?

Better ways of doing that.

Those ways probably involve a sack, a stream and some cute little puppies, but there are better ways.

Re: The march
when have the media ever given a shit about us? when you consider the amount of west ham supporting fans in the press, some in high positions, it's scandalous how they've sat back and allowed the owners to get away with their lies without any scrutiny

Miike - read what I posted carefully. I said that the media will portray you as yoboes, not that everyone marching is a yobo.

Also I'd strongly advise against secret meetings and tactics that the police don't know about. They'll certainly provoke a confrontation and we'll end up getting blamed for starting it again.

to label the people marching as an assortment of yobbos shows what a cunt you are surface
